  • Up Climbing is published only in Italian.

There are many topics of discussion that revolve around the issue of over-climbing. It is precisely to bring order and start a sensible dialogue that this thirty-fourth issue of Up Climbing has been conceived.

To open a constructive debate, through the voices of some of the most representative and historic Italian sport climbers, active for a long time within different perspectives, which obviously go beyond the mere technical aspect.

We will start with a round table, to test the waters, then continuing with a series of targeted interventions, divided into large areas: an area of general introductory themes, a second dedicated to social aspects, media and the public/private relationship, to finally conclude with a technical analysis of the problems related precisely to safety.

The objective is to understand the current situation, through constructive criticism and proposals, in a particularly complex – and in many ways worrying – moment in the history of crag climbing.

Below are some of the topics covered in this monograph, with the names of some of the authors who participated in the discussion.

Perspectives: with contributions from Andrea Gennari Daneri, Murizio Manolo Zanolla, Michele Guerrini, Umberto Tilomelli, Giovanni Massari and Davide Battistella (FASI President).

Climbing and Society: a relationship described by Richard Felderer, Alessandro Larcher, Mirko Masè, Samuele Mazzolini and Beppe Vidali.

Cases of areas: territory and climbing, a topic discussed with Andrea Gallo, Crazy Horse, Ernesto Scarperi and Massimo Cappuccio.

Memory and culture: history, ethics and culture as management of over-climbing, discussed with Alessandro Jolly Lamberti and Alberto Milani.

Finally Education and pedagogy with Samuele Mazzolini, Ecology and places with Alberto Milani and Security with contributions from Marco Thomas Tomassini and Nicola Tondini.
