Filippo Gamba, avalcotravel.com, engineer and business consultant, has worked on the design and risk management of complex systems, in plant engineering companies and international organizations, including CERN in Geneva. In 2006 he founded Avalco Travel, a small tour operator dedicated to sports travel and mountaineering expeditions around the world. Since 2009 he has been involved in Risk Management in outdoor sports, together with his partner Nigel Gifford, a collaborator of the Royal Geographical Society of London. Piedmontese by origin and Milanese by adoption, he has always practiced various mountain sports: skiing, mountaineering, trekking, paragliding, kayaking, mountain biking. He was a ski mountaineering instructor for the CAI and a mountain bike instructor for the SIMB. On skis or on foot he has traveled the mountains of the whole world, in Europe from the Alps to the Arctic, in America from Patagonia to Alaska, in Africa from Kilimanjaro to the High Atlas, ending with the giants of Asia in the Pamir, Tien-Shan, Himalaya and Karakorum.
