"This is not an adventure book, or at least not only, it is impossible to read it all in one go, a hundred pages a day. It is a brick that must be chewed and digested one bite at a time, a highly caloric dish that does not cause indigestion. We have tried to be as complete as possible, analyzing all or almost all the products on the market, each operation is described with multiple techniques, often similar and redundant, each with its pros and cons. And when you have mastered all of them, when everything flows in your blood, you will not be at the finish line but on the starting line, do not feel arrived, but only ready to say «let the game begin». We have just started..."
    Jim Bridwell

Just as mountains are not just piles of stones in the eyes of those like us who have dedicated their lives to it, this book is not only one of the most in-depth and technical manuals ever written on this discipline, but it is also a glimpse into an art that has so far been mysterious, little known and wrongly little appreciated, which better than many others promises great emotions and adventures to the climber who has the desire and humility to approach it in the right way.
Detailed explanations on the use of the most exotic materials and the description of all the most current progression techniques are accompanied by twenty stories of the best artificial climbing specialists in the world, stories capable of making us appreciate, through words of exaltation and suffering, the passion that moves them. This is a book that can be read at different levels and that will be useful to everyone: to the beginner, who will gain a series of tricks and a new point of view on safety on the wall, to the expert climber who has always changed itinerary when he read the word "artificial" in a report and who will now be able to realize more ambitious dreams, to the simple mountain reading enthusiast, who will be transported to fantastic walls by the scathing words of those who have dedicated their lives to the world of verticality and etriers.

Fabio Elli, born in 1980, chemical engineer, lives in the province of Como. He discovered the mountains and climbing with his father in 1994 and has never stopped since. A great lover of mountaineering and ice climbing, but also of cycling and photography. He immediately felt the charm of the stirrups but began to really dedicate himself to them in 2010, often alone. He has climbed many of the most beautiful grand courses in the Mont Blanc group, the Mooses Tooth in Alaska in 2010 and Lurking Fear on El Capitan in 2015.

Diego Pezzoli, born in 1980. Surveyor, lives in the province of Bergamo. He discovered climbing only in 2008 and after three years of intense apprenticeship around the Alps, he discovered artificial climbing. Fascinated by the large walls on which you have to stay for a long time, he climbed El Capitan, in Yosemite, and in his beloved Norway the walls of Blåmann and Stetind. In 2013 he was the first International to participate in the “Alpine Marathon” artificial climbing race in Svetogorsk in Russia. In 2014 he opened a new route on the Pinnacolo di Maslana (Valbondione, Bg): “Baba Jaga” probably the first and most challenging modern aid climbing line in the Bergamo valleys.
