Insights
  • Bergamo climbing and mountaineering have always played a leading role in the national context, and it cannot be a coincidence that from Cornalba, a true international temple of limestone climbing, an entire movement started in the mid-eighties, animated by Bruno Tassi, his two main students, Simone Moro and Emilio Previtali, and many others: Vito Amigoni, Gian Andrea Tiraboschi, Giangi Angeloni, Yuri Parimbelli, Luca Bana, Andrea Locatelli, in a vertical sporting continuity that has reached the present day.

The sporting territory surrounding Bergamo has offered for many years numerous expressive possibilities to climbers of all levels, among other things with very different terrains, from pure slabs to large overhangs, on generally excellent quality stone.

But the vertical history of Bergamo starts from afar and, obviously, finds its chosen place in the Dolomite-like massif of Presolana, without forgetting other mountains such as Monte Alben, Arera, the solitary Cimone della Bagozza, once visited by Bramani and Cassin.

It will therefore be necessary to hear the protagonists of many events and routes opened on Presolana in different eras, while at the same time providing an updated technical overview, through the expert pen of Maurizio Panseri. And then the interviews with various historical protagonists, with a special eye for Rosa Morotti, whose high-level mountaineering activity can make many pale for variety and richness. There is also a synthetic view of the Bergamo indoor, with its history and its problems, and its two well-known gyms.

More climbing in the generalist part: from the news in Albania to those in Palestine, a land whose decidedly tragic current situation is there for all to see. But we also have a surprise: a first article on ski mountaineering, which will be followed by others, edited by Omar Oprandi, with reflections, technical proposals and very interesting itineraries.
