  • This guide dedicated to modern, sport and trad multi-pitch routes completes the editorial project on climbing in the Canton of Ticino, which began with the volume dedicated to cliffs (Ticino Rock Falesie, Versante Sud Editore, 2024).
The Ticino area, in addition to interesting cliffs, offers beautiful routes on some of the best granite in the Alps, a variety of climbing and a mild climate that makes it appreciated even by climbers from the nearby regions north of the Alps. The work, expanded and updated, was completed by the same authors of the guide on cliffs, very active protagonists on the Ticino rocks, a stone's throw from home, where they have opened and repeated free climbs on various routes, some of which are very difficult. By networking with local climbers, they were able to collect updated and often unpublished reports and information, thus guaranteeing the reliability of the guide. The work is completed by some contributions written by the authors themselves who recount personal experiences on the Ticino rocks and interviews with important protagonists of climbing in the Canton of Ticino.

Matteo Della Bordella was born in Varese in 1984, graduated in management engineering. He has been climbing since the age of 12, repeating routes throughout the Alpine arc including numerous highly difficult routes, some of which are free and on-sight, such as the Pesce in Marmolada, and opening numerous extreme routes. Since 2006 he has been a member of the Gruppo dei Ragni di Lecco. His activity ranges from rock climbing to mountaineering and non-European expeditions, among his most important climbs we remember the first ascent of the West face of Torre Egger in Patagonia (2013), the first ascent of the South West face of Torre di Uli Biaho (6109m), Pakistan, and the expedition by fair means to Shark Tooth, in Greenland (2014). The walls and cliffs of the Canton of Ticino are the places where it is easier to meet him when he is not traveling around the world; here he has opened and freed numerous routes, even very challenging ones.

Davide Mazzucchelli, born in Varese in 1976, a textile-IT consultant, married with two children, defines himself simply as a great mountain enthusiast: rock, ice, mixed climbing and ski mountaineering. He has traveled far and wide throughout the entire Alpine arc, with particular attention to the lesser-known and possibly tricky itineraries! The nearby Ticino was his training and preparation gym. In his mountaineering growth, a special place is given to the opening of new routes, preferably in clean style, to comparing himself with the greats of the past, the intense winter climbs and the depth of solo climbs. With Matteo Della Bordella he is also the author of the guide to the cliffs of Varese and Canton Ticino.
