After only 3 years from the last edition, the number of new crags and new routes in Ticino is such as to justify a new expanded and corrected edition. In the 2024 edition, 98 climbing sites and a total of 36 new sectors are presented. This new book introduces you to 4424 climbing routes of which 974 were not listed in the old edition.
Detailed access maps, aerial photos, color drawings and numerous action photographs will guide you to discover the vertical beauties of Ticino. The work is completed by several interviews and contributions from some of the protagonists of the international and local scene.
Egon Bernasconi, born in Locarno in 1979, is a mathematician by training and teaches part-time at the Locarno High School. His passion for rock and teaching led him to obtain the federal patent of climbing instructor, a profession that occupies him the rest of the time. For over 20 years he has dedicated himself to the valorization of the vertical world of Ticino, he has opened almost 1000 single pitches and several multi-pitches scattered throughout the territory of the canton. However, his favorite playground is Vallemaggia, where he lives with his wife Julia, his son Nahuel and his faithful dog friend Manush. In 2007, together with some friends, he founded the Picalciot association, with the aim of promoting climbing in Vallemaggia and the surrounding regions. Over the years he has traveled extensively throughout Europe, Canada, Namibia, Madagascar, Mongolia, Peru, Bolivia, Argentina and Chile, trying to savor as much rock as possible.
